Dan,

I think three interesting topics could be:

 - Some thumb rules to analyze when your idea is a good one or something that won't work.

 - How to promote your product / site whatever...

 - Guerrilla technics to get a good quality product with all the limitations of an startup company.

 Cheers

Hey Dan,
I must say it's fascinating reading about how you came about your company. Not sure if you remember me but I used your product in my postgrad work. Unfortunately I went through a different path but thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility of your product.

I was going to ask you on how you actually came about your product line...I mean...when you sat down for those beers, what was your thought cycle? What made you design Lightspeed and not something else? Would love to know...

Cheers,
Ruskin

@Tasos I aim to please :-)

@Barry I likely won't simply chronicle our existence but take certain aspects and discuss them in more depth. Hopefully those discussion points though will elaborate on aspects of our story :-)

@Denny There's a mix - I'm unattached with no children, Jeremy got married about 18 months after starting and Andrew was already married and now has a child (but also no longer works for Mindscape!). Perhaps I'll use this as the basis of a future blog post :-)

Thanks for the comments!

Did any of you have a wife/kids? I feel a risk because of my family. I've been doing the after work, late nights, weekend deal lately with a few friends. However we're all very passionate and hard workers which, like you said, is great to feed off each other. Anyways, great post!

Excellent post !!

We are all used to stupid stories of 15 year old guys being millionaires just by building stupid sites.

You have been quite brave, inveting money and managing to live for consultancy meanwhile you built your own product.

In my case, I just go for afternoon times building my product with a colleague (a db schema editor Silverlight base), ... at least having fun doing something my way, I'm tired of canibal consultancy :).
