Hi; I’ve been using Web Workbench (free) in combination with Chirpy without any problems. However, I updated to the last version yesterday and now Chirpy stop working. I disabled Workbench and everything gets back to normal. What´s going on? is this a way to “force” me to update to the pro version? If not, what is the problem? Thanks! Edgar |

We certainly have no intention of forcing anyone to purchase the Pro version, and we have no intention of interfering with the way Chirpy works. If we stop Chirpy working then that is a bug at our end and we will make sure that it is fixed promptly so that you can use both tools happily together. However, we will need a bit more information to solve the problem. You say "Chirpy stops working." Can you clarify exactly what happens? Chirpy does a whole lot of stuff -- what is not working? Is it that Chirpy no longer minifies CSS and/or JavaScript files? Or are the minified files wrong? Or is it something else that's not working? |

Hi Ivan, First, I want to apologize. I wrote the post in a moment of rage. I should wait to cool off before write it. The problem is when I save the file (javascript) it send and error saying that It can’t create the MIN file because the file already exists. This is the exact message:
This only happens with JS, and not with LESS or CSS. (I didn’t tried with the other options of Chirpy) Thanks in advance. Edgar |

That's odd. We shouldn't be creating a .min.js file unless minification is turned on for that file (which it won't be in your case); as far as I can see, once we realise that you're saving a .js file and we're in the free edition, we would just get entirely out of the way. However it looks like in the current version we don't bail out on .js files quite as early as we ought to. I don't think this would cause your problem, but the fact that you see the error for .js files but not .css files makes me wonder...! We've since made a change which bails out a bit earlier on .js files. Could you install it and let us know if it helps? Thanks -- if nothing else it will help us eliminate a possible cause! Have problem with april 4 version (and ..i dont know how many versions back, maybe 2 or 3) with chirpy too. I have chirpy set to minify js files with extension filename.yui.js
when i hit save, WW (even tho minify is set nowhere) excludes the .min.js from the project, and then the .min.js just sits there (grayed out). To make it work i now either have to disable WW and restart VS, or i have to delete the .min.js file before i hit save (it will then be regenerated correctly). PS: Project is source controlled with TFS 2010 & using VS 2010 |
