I am not sure the correct way to propose a feature request, but here goes: I would like to be able to do: a) Manage dependencies Possibly via a universal repository, I would like to be able to "requires XX" and it would automagically find the file XX for me and include it somehow (see below). b) Be able to bootstrap OR compile, depending on the build type I would like to include only a MySiteScript.js to my head section. If my build type is debug, I would like this build to automagically load each included file, along with it's dependancies, ie: Debug: MySiteScript.js includes some script tags with src=:
Release: MySiteScript.js includes the mashed and minified version of ALL the files I mentioned before How this could be done: The repository could be a config file that contains the location of all coffeescript, less, and sass files, along with an alias for each so that you can use the alias to add as "requires: 'alias' ". The alias is mandatory, because that way we could upgrade jquery for example without the need to check all of our dependents to update version number. Dependancies should be stored on per-file basis. |

Thanks for the request. Much of what you've asked for here sounds like it could achieved by using a tool like SquishIT in your pages (that does the combining if needed, does not combine if in debug mode, etc). At present we're reasonably focused on the best editing experience possible rather than building a runtime framework since there are a lot of those already. We'd like to add this additional capability but it will likely be quite some time before it's included. I hope that makes sense -- we do appreciate requests it's just that this one won't make it in soon. John-Daniel |
