Hi! Is there a way to install this lovely piece of code in Visual Studio 2010? (Using RC at the moment). I understand Visual Studio 2010 isn't released yet, and that might be the reason. Thanks for any feedback! |

Hi, Support for VS 2010 is planned but it is unlikely that we will release one for the RC. We have a few products that integrate with Visual Studio so we are going to be working through support for them all once the RTM edition is released. We'll post on the blog when we make a release that supports VS2010 and I will also try to remember to update this thread :-) Thanks for making the request too - it directly helps us prioritize. Yes, we're hoping to ship SimpleDB Management Tools for 2010 in the next day or two, and will make an announcement when it's available. However, please note that VS Express editions (of which I believe VWD is one) do not support extensions such as SimpleDB Management Tools. Our understanding is that, as with VS2008, you will need Professional or higher edition of VS to install this extension. This is a Microsoft limitation and not one that we have any control over. |

I just downloaded the nightly (SimpleDBManagementToolsStandard-20100507.msi) and I'm getting the error message: This setup requires Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. Here's a screenshot: http://grab.by/4fhX I have a fresh Windows 7 install with Visual Studio 2010 only. Should I be able to install? |

The VS2008 and VS2010 builds of SimpleDB Management Tools are shipped separately: you'll need to download the 2010-specific version, which will be called something like SimpleDBManagementTools.Standard-20100507.vsix (note the .vsix extension instead of .msi). I'll talk to our store mandarins to see if we can clarify this distinction (we annotate the two versions properly on the RTM builds, but not on the nightlies) -- apologies for the confusion. |
