Hi guys I've just set up my ASP.NET MVC 4 project with Team Foundation Service, and configured TFS to build automatically upon checkin. However, this raises the question of what to do with the files that are compiled locally by Web Workbench (.less files in my case). Can I somehow integrate Web Workbench with TFS, so that it can compile .less files etc. on TFS? Also, I notice that Team Foundation wants to check in .css files compiled from .less by Web Workbench. Is this normal practice, or is there some way to exclude these files from source control? I can't see any option to ignore them... Appreciate any help. |

If you want to have these compiled as part of an automated build we have a command line compiler available as part of the pro version - you can download this from your account - its listed as "Web Workbench Command Line Compilers". Install that on your build server. With regards to source control we will automatically attempt to check out files as required if you happen to include the .css files in your source repository. I would expect you probably would want to do this unless you have no intention of actually using the output directly (rather you would generate it purely from the build server).

Thanks. I've not yet been able to see if I can install a commandline tool to the TFS build server, so I suspect it's not possible? Instead I've opted to check the compiled .css files into Team Foundation so the build step is simply avoided. |
