Hi, I was just looking at the split button control provided in the elements package, and I discovered something. I have been using it with MenuItems in the DropDown, which works perfectly. However, what I was looking at this time was doing something a little bit similar to what Word is doing for Colors, or for bullets and numbering. In these cases the drop-down contains a mixture of gallerys, and in some cases menu items as well - or basically anything like a color picker, that sort of thing. Another case that is similar is the view selection button in windows explorer which has what looks like a menu, but has a slider running down the left side of it. The DropDownEditor supports generic content, so that's cool, but the dropdowneditor doesn't provide the default action like the split button does - which is normal because that's not it's role. So I guess what I'm asking is there any way other than creating crazy custom menu items (using templates etc...) that would allow this kind of behavior? Is this in any future development plans? |

Hello This would be great functionality, we don't have any immediate plans for creating this hybrid control at the moment though. One thing you could try is using the DropDownEditor and set the HeaderTemplate to display a button. On the button you can set the Command parameter and then you will mostly have what you're describing. The main downside is that you would need to do a bit of styling to make it look good. Try this out and let us know if it fits your requirements. - Jason |
