I am trying to implement a time cursor on top of the TimeExplorer. In addition to the standard time explorer functionality of letting you select a time range I wanted to use the charts foreground elements capability to let an date time be selected on the chart. I have approached this problem two different ways. First I attempted to overlay a slider on top of the time explorer. The problem with this approach is it is becoming difficult to keep it synchronized with the underlying chart data. My second approach as described above was to use a foreground element on the chart itself, but right now I am stuck with the time explorer capturing all the mouse input for the minor scale buttons. Is there a way to turn off the capability to select minor time ranges and let the mouse input fall through to the chart? I still want the built in sliders that allow the time range to change, but I need to be able to click on the chart to update the tracking element I am implementing. Any other ideas you have to handle this would be welcome. Thanks. Version 5.1.1865.22371 |

Hello dervin In the next nightly build you will find the TimeExplorer will have MinorRangeButtonsVisibility and MajorRangeButtonsVisibility properties. The major range buttons also extend the full height of the TimeExplorer, so you'll need to set both of these properties to Collapsed or Hidden to allow the mouse to reach through to the chart. This will allow your custom foreground element to work. If you still want the minor range buttons or at least the major range buttons as well as the custom foreground element, then the other option would be to create a custom TimeExplorer style. You can find the code for all our TimeExplorer styles in the Themes folder in the install directory. Look for the files that end with DateTimeControls. You can copy one of our TimeExplorer themes and modify it to display the range buttons right at the top or the bottom of the viewport (rather than stretching to the full height). This would allow you to have the buttons as well as the custom foreground element, but you only need to do this if you want this functionality. Jason Fauchelle |
