Thanks for reporting this. It appears this occurs when the project type is not one we can add files and folders in for - what type of project are you developing with?

It's a simple asp.net web project. I don't have this problem at personal laptop but in my pc have this problem. I have installed Vs.net 2010 and 2012 and in both of it have this problem. I test it on any project I can and get same error. Please check this issue and let me know how can I fix it. Thanks. |

Hi, im am experiencing the same error, it works when I work from a root folder but not from an internal folder, please assist with this as we are considering using your extension for our project and if it dost work it isn't a strong candidate |

We are still having trouble tracking down the cause of this and would like to get this fixed. I am suspicious this may relate to another extension which is installed - can you provide some details about what extensions you have installed (in particular any you dont have installed on the machine where this isnt a problem).

I haven't tried it on a different machine, ill try it tomorrow. only extension's I have are Team Foundation Server and spell checker. |

I have this extensions installed: Indent Guides Microsoft Web Developer Tools NuGet Package Manager Visual Studio 2012 Color Theme Editor Visual Studio Extenstions for Windows Library for JavaScript Visual Studio Zen Coding 2012 Web Essentials 2012 I have same extensions on my other system but don't have any problem and everything work correctly. Meanwhile I use TFS on troubled system. |

Thanks for the updates. I cannot reproduce the issue with that combination of plugins so I wanted to recheck what other things could trigger this error. Do you have the sass folder excluded from the Visual Studio project you are working with when you trigger the generation of the spriting import? If it is included do you see a sprites folder underneath your sass folder? Is it excluded from the project? If no to both of those then if you manually create this folder does it resolve the issue?

Not to hijack this thread, but it looks like more information is needed and I am getting the same or similar error. Here is what I get: An error occurred when trying to generate the spriting import, please contact Mindscape to report this error System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\esharp\AppData\Local\Temp\Mindscape\WebWorkbench\Ruby193\Ruby193\bin\compasslocal.bat'. at System.IO.Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITYATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy, Boolean useLongPath, Boolean checkHost) at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy, Boolean useLongPath, Boolean checkHost) at System.IO.StreamWriter.CreateFile(String path, Boolean append, Boolean checkHost) at System.IO.StreamWriter..ctor(String path, Boolean append, Encoding encoding, Int32 bufferSize, Boolean checkHost) at System.IO.StreamWriter..ctor(String path, Boolean append) at Mindscape.VisualSass.Integration.Commands.CompassSpriteCommand.OnExecute() I noticed that the file it is looking for is not in my local temp. There is no Mindscape folder in AppData\Local\Temp. Also I noticed that it is looking for a folder Ruby193, I'm using Ruby200 on my local machine. I also added the sprites folder underneath your sass folder. What I did was right-click on the folder with my images and click "Generate Spriting Import". Version: 3.2.915.22691 |

Have you set the "Ruby Installation Path" setting to map to your Ruby install /bin folder?
|
|
|
I have it set. Everything else is working correctly, only the sprite generation via the context menu is throwing an error. |
|
|
Ive added an update which will be available in the next nightly build which may resolve this. Let us know if the problem persists after next updating.

I had the same problem and I've managed to fix it after almost 2 hours of hopeless searching. I was getting the error because one of images had name starting with a number. The error was still that it could not find the file, which is quite weird. You should consider adding a check for files starting with number and notify the user about it. |
