Hey guys - Just wondering if anyone has fired up LightSpeed on a mobile client running Sql Mobile - does it work/run on the compact framework? I haven't got a client to try it on at the mo/haven't investigated at all - was just wondering :-) Cheers, James |

Hi James, We looked at adding support for SQL CE (Mobile/Everywhere) and found that it didn't support batching which was core to how LightSpeed operated it. Thanks for noting down your interest however. For the time being we recommend using SQLite as this only requires that you referefence the SQLite3.dll that ships as a provider to LightSpeed and uses a single file as a database (in a very similar way to SQL Mobile). Hope that helps, - JD |

Thanks JD! Thats cool SQLite is all go - I havent played with it but being able to write a model useable on a mobile client will be very handy and a great benefit over other orm's (with others you are normally left to rewrite the data access component etc-reverting back to ADO pain/duplication of work). I'm not sure if the LightSpeed engine will run on a mobile client(?) but I'll experiment (maybe even just test it in one of the emulators) and see where I get too. Cheers, James |
