Are there any examples of using Lightspeed to build WCF services and exposing Entities through Contracts(either through Projection or DataMapping). Additionally, are there any examples or Plans to support Exposure of Lightspeed models via REST or Astoria?

Hi, We have a comprehensive WCF sample to be released shortly. With respect to REST, it's something we're thinking about. What type of support would you like to see? Cheers, Andrew. |

Can't wait Do you have a day or week number for the release of the WCF sample? Bye the way I am still having a major issue with the designer. With a database with 150 tables with sql server DRI on all tables - it's now takes over an hour to add a single table to the designer canvas. An another hour if I add a new property and sync the database. |

I hate to say "it's working for me," but I have just tried dragging 50 tables, each with 30 columns, out of a 200-table database onto a design surface where there were already 50 entities, and it took a few seconds. Syncing a change to one of these 100 entities back to the database again took a few seconds. This clearly isn't a hardware issue because I remember your hardware is well up to spec, and even if your database is on the network rather than local it shouldn't cause that kind of slowdown. Are you using a recent nightly build? We did two iterations of performance improvement after you first reported problems; depending on which nightly you are using you may have the first stage but not the second. The second tranche -- which is probably the more significant one -- would be in builds numbered 20080611 (June 11) and above. If you are using a recent nightly, would it be possible to give us a copy of your database schema? You can attach files using the Options tab, or mail them via the contact form if you don't want them appearing in the public forums. I'm very concerned at the poor performance you're seeing and I'm very keen to reproduce and fix the problem. |

It's working now, and fast to. Have just downloaded the current nigthly build and now it works. What about the WCF demo? |
|
|
Phew, I'm relieved to hear you say that *grin*. We've not had a chance to work on the WCF demo since Andrew mentioned it, but we hear the interest and we'll try to get some resources on this as soon as possible. It will probably be towards the end of next week or the beginning of the week after (i.e. 17-22 July) though. |

Just as an update on this, due to the demands of some other projects, we haven't been able to devote as much time to the WCF demo as we'd planned, so there'll be a slight delay in publishing this. We're still hoping to get it out this week sometime though. |
