am using the unique validation rule in several places. now have another case where i want to use it - but i only want it to validate the "uniqueness" if the field has a value e.g. a barcode - value will be a string of 8 - 14 characters if there is a value in the barcode field - then validate that it is unique if there is no value (barcode == string.empty) then do NOT validate it saw in a different entry a response by andrew that the following was possible [ValidateEmailAddress(Required=false)]
is there some way of doing this ??? |

Hi Markse, The UniqueValidation rule will only run if the value is not the default value or, if a string, is NOT null or empty. This would seem to suggest that the unique validator is not causing your current issue. Do you have any default values being applied or other validators on the field that could be causing you the issue? We're happy to enhance the functionality, I just need to ensure we're resolving the right issue as your requested behavior is already how LightSpeed functions. Are you using a recent version of LightSpeed by the way? I hope that helps, John-Daniel |
