Hi guys, I've been playing with the designer and I'd thought I'd let you know about a couple of issues (aside - do you have a bug list somewhere that users could check before posting here?) Firstly, the "update to database" action seems to need to be done twice, the first time sends over the tables, the second time sends over the the backreference(s). This took a while to work out because as you can imagine simply doing it once seems to be the obvious thing - but it then goes and breaks anything relying on the backrefernce (dynamic data). Secondly, it doesn't seem to allow for nullable fields (when doing the update to database). I cleared down my schema, set some of the fields to nullable in the database, did "update to database" (twice) and unfortunately the db fields were not nullable. Not really a biggy i suppose (easy enough to set them manually) I'm using the latest nightly build, VS 2008 SP1 cheers, Ben |

ok - so I unintstalled and reinstalled everything and the second issue (nullable field) seems to have gone away - I think there was some confusion on the system as to which lightspeed 2.2 to use (would it be worth adding a small bit of text on the nightly build page suggesting that the user uninstall the old version before installing the new one?) |

and now I've notice that the first question is answered elsewhere in the forums (known issue) - so please just can this thread, thx |

Hi Ben, The known issue where you have to do two passes to create tables with relationships will (finally!) be addressed in the next nightly build, dated 5 May 2009 and available from about 1430 GMT. Please be aware there may be some bugs still to be smoothed out, but if you are willing to take it for a spin and let us know any problems / errors then we would very much appreciate it! You shouldn't need to do another uninstall-reinstall cycle now that you are on the nightlies -- it is necessary to do an uninstall before upgrading from 2.2 RTM to a current nightly but from now on it should uninstall the old version automatically as part of the upgrade. |
