Hi to all,
I'm testing LightSpeed for the company work for.
Quite surprisingly I couldn't find in the forum indications on how to make LightSpeed work with Oracle.
Whenever I drag a table from an Oracle connection in Server Explorer to the LightSpeed designer, I get the following error:
Exception while processing Server Explorer drag: Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Model.GenerationException: Unsupported Server Explorer connection type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection'
at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.GeneratorUtils.GetProviderType(Object connection)
at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LightSpeedDataSourceBase`1.GetProvider(IGenerationLog log)
at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.EntityExtractor.PopulateTypeModel(ILightSpeedDataSource connection, IList`1 tableNames, Boolean pluralisedInDatabase)
at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.EntityBuilder.AddTablesToModel(Model model, ILightSpeedDataSource connection, IEnumerable`1 tableNames, IGenerationLog log)
at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LightSpeedModelDiagram.<>c__DisplayClass4.b__3(DragObject dragObject, IGenerationLog log)
at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.ServerExplorer.IfIsServerExplorerDrag(DragEventArgs e, DragAction action)
Can anybody help me?
Thanks

Hi Pistacchio, LightSpeed doesn't understand the OLE DB format of connection strings, so you need to use a "native" Oracle connection instead. When creating your connection in Server Explorer, in the Data Provider box, choose ".NET Data Provider for Oracle" (instead of "...for OLE DB"). You should then be able to drag tables from that connection successfully onto the design surface. Please let us know if you still run into problems. |

Sorry, I've the same problem whit MySQL, version 5.0.45. I use the ODBC connector 3.51. These are my connection options: Datasource : Microsoft ODBC Data Source (ODBC) //It is the only way? Datasource specification : Use user or system data source name. Connection test run correctly, but I don't be able to drag tables from the connection. How do I properly set up MySQL?
Thanks |

LightSpeed uses the MySQL Connector/Net rather than ODBC. LightSpeed includes the runtime MySql.Data.dll component, but for MySQL / Visual Studio integration you'll need to download the full connector (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/). |

Perfect, new connector work correctly!
