Hello, I would like to use the SQL2008 datetime2 in my asp.net mvc project and currently I am running a nightly build from about a month ago(2.2.1082.11128)
I have configured the LightSpeed data context to use the SQL2008 provider, but the designer does not appear to support datetime2. Presently when I change a datetime to datetime2 in the database and do an "Update from Source", the property is turned into an object, not a .net DateTime. Also the Database Prover model property drop down does not show SQL2008, only SQL2005 and changing the model xml file to 2008 also didn't seem to work.
Is there support in the designer for datetime2 yet? Should I update to latest nightly? If not please advise on how to use datetime2 at present. Thanks!

Hello Mike, I have added DateTime2 support in the designer and this will be included in nightly builds dated 16 May 2009 and above, available for download from about 1430 GMT. Thanks for letting us know about this. The designer's SqlServer2005 provider also works with SQL Server 2008; there is currently no need for a separate SQL Server 2008 design-time provider. |
