This class doesn't seem to support floating windows. If the window is docked, the call back to CreateNode is called. But when it's floating, it is not. Is there a way to work around this? |

Hello Unfortunately this is not currently possible due to the "drag and drop" functionality of the diagram node tools being custom built. We've custom built the drag-drop functionality because the node tools can also be clicked once to "charge" the mouse cursor so that click-dragging on the diagram surface can create and size the node all at once. I'm not sure if this would be possible if we were to use the built-in WPF drag-drop system. Currently our custom implementation can not drag a node-tool from one window to another. I've added this to our backlog as this would be useful, but I'm not sure when we'd have time to implement this. If I have misunderstood your question i.e. the toolbox and diagram surface are actually in the same floating window. Please let me know, and if possible send a simple repro project. -Jason Fauchelle |

Hi Jason - Thanks so much for the reply. The toolbox and diagram surface are in the same floating window. This project is using AvalonDock. Is it now possible to keep the custom drag and drop if they are in the same floating window? |

Yes, in the same floating window this issue should be possible to resolve. I am not familiar with how to use Avalon Dock, so if you can create a simple repro project that demonstrates the issue, I'll be able to look into what's wrong. -Jason Fauchelle |

Hi Jason, I've created a small project with Avalon dock. I've attached it in a zip file. Please let me know if you run into problems opening it or running it. You can drag and drop the object after pressing 'create diagram'. But if you try to float the window (grab the empty bar) you'll see the drag and drop no longer works. Thanks so much for your help! |

Thanks for the repro project, this was a huge help! I've improved our drag/drop functionality for the diagram tool box to work in this scenario. This will be resolved in the next nightly build. The next nightly build will be available at around 1200 GMT and will be downloadable from your account page: http://www.mindscapehq.com/store/myaccount -Jason Fauchelle |
