Hi guys, I was just wondering if you had any tools/patterns/best practices for using silverlight with a lightspeed powered mvc site/wcf services. Obviously I can hand code everything but I was just wondering if you had any bits/info that might be useful in this area. Cheers, James |

Regarding LightSpeed and MVC, see Jeremy's epic walkthrough at http://www.mindscape.co.nz/staff/jeremy/index.php/category/lightspeed/ -- there's also some useful bits in our Community Code repository (http://www.mindscape.co.nz/blog/index.php/category/community-code/ and http://www.mindscape.co.nz/forums/Forum.aspx?ForumID=20). Regarding Silverlight and WCF, you can get the designer to generate DTOs for you, which you can expose from WCF and consume in Silverlight. We don't really have anything more than that at the moment. JD has started writing up some general recommendations on rich client design (see http://www.mindscape.co.nz/blog/index.php/2009/08/19/tips-for-rich-client-development/), though what he's done so far is has focused on client-server rather than messaging architectures, so probably won't be all that helpful in a Silverlight context. Is there anything more specific you're wondering about? |
