I am using Lightspeed in conjunction with Amazon's SimpleDB; and I have encountered a problem after saving a string that contains extended ASCII character number (in decimal) 146. The problem is that any string that is being saved to Simple DB that contains this specific character, is somehow saved incorrectly and returns garbage once it's retrieved. Do we escape this character before saving? Is this something that can be fixed in an upcoming release of lightspeed?

This is working correctly for me with the current nightly build. We changed the implementation recently to use Select rather than QueryWithAttributes so it's possible that different escaping rules or implementations at the Amazon end have fixed the issue. Could you try it with the nightly and see if that sorts it out? If you still see the problem with the current nightly build, could you post a small console project that reproduces the problem? You can attach a zip file via the Options tab or email it to ivan @ the obvious domain name (please remove all binaries first). Thanks! Also, if you can determine whether the value was correctly saved or not, that will help us to pin down whether the issue is on the save side or the load side. You should be able to do this using our SimpleDB Management Tools product or one of the other SimpleDB browsers that is out there. (Just as a warning, responses may be a bit slow over the next few days as we will all be at a conference.) |
