Hey Mindscape, First of all, we love what we've seen so far of WPF Star Diagrams! I am looking for a powerful, flexible graph layout package and WPF SD does so many of the things we need straight out of the box! I did have a question about Cyclic relationships - ultimately, we are not technically building star diagrams and we would like to be able to add cyclic relationships if we can, is there a way to do this? Congratulations on a great program! Martin BG |

Hi Martin, Thanks very much for your kind words! We're continuing to enhance our diagramming range and appreciation your feedback. Currently if you want to have cyclic relationships you would need to use our Flow Diagrams product as that supports those types of relationships. The only limiting factor with that however is that we do not have any layout mechanisms like we provide in the star diagramming product. If you're looking for cyclic relationships AND having layout algorithms that will make it look attractive (as attractive as an algorithm can! :-) then let me know and we'll look and enhancing the flow diagrams product to support this situation. Again, thanks for your feedback - it really helps us better understand what features we should be adding or enhancing :-) John-Daniel Trask |

Hi John-Daniel, We've had a look at both packages now and there are some really great features in both of them - we've loved the layout abilities in the star diagrams (the progressive animations look great) and it's important that we can skin the diagrams (your solar system example showed that off wonderfully). We are looking to produce directed cyclic graphs, like the flow diagrams but we'd love for them to have the 'feel' of the star diagrams - people can pick up nodes, throw them around and watch the graph lay itself out appropriately. Do you think there is any chance that Mindscape would be interested in implementing these kind of features? Thanks! Martin BG |

Hi Martin, We'll have a look at adding layout capabilities (including the nice animated ones) to flow diagrams. Since star diagrams technically shouldn't include cycles it seems more appropriate to add layout support to the flow diagrams product. We will likely need to spend significant time to handle layouts with cyclic flows - what sort of time frames are you working to? Cheers, John-Daniel Trask |

Hi John-Daniel, Putting the functionality into the flow diagrams rather than the star diagrams make sense. We're looking to release around mid-way through next year, we can do alot of work in absense of the functionality but we will need something like that eventually. I'm excited to see the end result, the current layout engines already look good and one that supports cyclic flows will look seriously cool :) Thanks, Martin BG |

I would also be interested in cyclical functionality in the star diagrams for what its worth. It would look awesome. |
