Hi, Due to "soft-delete" limitation on MySql, I'm forced to migrate to SQL Server. Off-hands, it seems to require quite a bit of efforts on my side and I would like to ask before I jump.
Thanks. -chris |

Hi Chris, From the perspective of using LightSpeed there should be no differences or limitations from moving between MySQL and SQL Server, other than those coming from the database behavior itself (e.g. the limitation you have found with MySQL being one which is caused by a restriction in MySQL). We dont really have a recommended DB as such, but the most widely used database with LightSpeed is definitely SQL Server and a reflection of this is that it does have some additional support, e.g. automatic mapping of spatial types, although this may be of limited value to you porting from MySQL. When we develop any new features or other enhancements with LightSpeed those are then tested against all of the database providers in our build environment so there isn't a primary db as such, but we do use SQL Server and MySQL for our internal systems etc.

Hi, Jeremy, Thanks for the info. Porting just for the "delete" issue might be an overkill. I'll try to workaround it first and migrage if it's getting on my nerves too much. Thanks. -chris |
