Hi Chaps We are looking closely at replacing our home grown DAL with LightSpeed (or something else... :/ ). We use the current DAL across SQL Server on Web and Desktop and on CE for Mobile. Until mobile goes away completely... sigh... we are stuck with our existing DAL but would like to use something better on non mobile apps. It's also likely that apps will have the new DAL plus the old one while we migrate the mess across. We have a soft delete mechanism already - just a bit field on records that is set to true when deleted. Would it be possible to override the default behaviour of LightSpeed soft deletes to work the same way we current do it? This is not a biggy cause we can always wrap the DAL in the service layer (which we will do) but it would be nice to have some confidence that things are working the old way. We have a similar issue with migrations. Our existing DAL uses a version table, like LS, but the version number is a double, eg: 8.1, rather than the date format you use. Is it possible to override this behaviour? Cheers |

Hello Peter, I'm afraid neither of these implementations is overridable, and we don't currently have any plans to make them overridable. You'll need to address the compatibility issues in the service layer as you describe. |

Thanks Ivan. Not the answer I was hoping for but we do plan more larger scale architectural changes so rather than slipping in lightspeed under the covers, we can just do a wholesale replacement as part of this. Cheers |
