Hi Guys,
I've attached my test application.
I would really appreciate it if you can help me in the regard.
Kind regards,
Johan J v Rensburg
PS. Can you add support for 7zip files under your File attachment section. Zip =24kb and 7Zip = 8kb just trying to save space ;)

Hi Johan, I'm not the WCF/Remoting expert, but just wanted to say thanks for the 7zip suggestion. Just added the extension to the allowed attachments pattern so it should work from now on. I'll leave the major point of your post for Jeremy to respond to. John-Daniel |

Hi Johan, I just ran up the attached project here locally with a small bit of self created sample data but it all ran through fine - could you elaborate on the error you are seeing (stack trace etc?) and which version of LightSpeed do you have installed?

Hi Jeremy, I've updated the project both the Server and the client should start up.

Hi Johan, Thanks, but I was already running both apps during the test. The steps taken were to load both the client and server, click the button on the client and trace through the call to the server where the data is loaded and then sent back over the remoting channel, the results are the enumerated on the client in your code which in turn calls Validate on them. All of that executed for me without any error. Would you be able to send through some more details about what you are seeing, the stack trace of the exception being thrown and which version of LightSpeed you are using (I am using a recent build of 3.1). Thanks!

Hi Jeremy,
I've attached a screen shot with all the detail in it. Hope this helps.

Hi Jeremy, I've downloaded Nightly Build for 06 Jun 2010 - LightSpeed31Professional-20100606.msi but got the same result. NullReferecenException Johan |

Thanks for the extra detail Johan, unfortunately I am still not able to repro the exception here and the code runs without issue for me so I am wondering if it might be something related to the test data I am using. Would you be able to email me through a copy of your test data set? I presume from your description you are getting the error on the first customer being returned so you probably can trim it down to just that customer record and its associated order/orderdetails/product entries, or alternatively just the specific customer you are seeing this on if its not the first one in the list.

Hi Jeremy,
I've updated the sample with the Database (SQLCE) and the test data. I really hope that you can recreate this problem. I'm using VS2008 + SP1. Johan |
|
|
Hi Jeremy, Where you able to recreate the problem with the new sample? Johan |
|
|
Hi Johan, Yes thanks I was able to recreate this with the latest sample with the test data :) The problem is actually related to some recent changes to the deserialization code colliding with our obfuscator in this scenario. I have updated the obfuscation settings for tonights nightly build (20100609) and above which resolves this. Thanks for reporting this and for the good repro which helped us work through this. Let us know if you run into any furthor problems.
