Many thanks for Lightspeed's Postgresql provider, previously posted in January 2010, which I have successfully used for dragging a Postgresql connection onto Lightspeed's designer in Visual Studio 2008 running on a 32-bit machine. Unfortunately this same provider does not seem to work when I try it in Visual Studio 2010 running on a 64-bit machine (Windows Server 2008 R2.) Is it possible that I am doing something wrong, or do I need a different Postgresql provider for VS 2010? Thanks |

You're not doing anything wrong: everything has to be rebuilt and repackaged for VS2010, and we haven't yet done that for the PostgreSQL provider. Let me take a quick look at this and we'll see if we can sort something out for you. |

Hello Lee, I've attached a candidate VS2010 PostgreSQL provider. Please be warned it comes with the coveted "Works On My Machine" seal of approval so do let us know if you run into any problems. If you don't run into any problems, please let us know anyway so that we can close this off! To install it, just download, double-click and restart VS2010. If something goes wrong and you need to uninstall it, you can do so via Tools > Extension Manager. (Warning: if you uninstall an extension while there is a Server Explorer connection that uses that extension, it can break Server Explorer. This is a VS issue not a Mindscape issue. The fix is to reinstall the extension, delete the connection, and then uninstall the extension.) Note that the VS2008 and VS2010 providers are separate installs. Installing the VS2010 provider will NOT get you PostgreSQL integration in VS2008 or vice versa. So if you are using both VS2008 and VS2010 you will want to have both installed. UPDATE: We have now released an updated build of the VS2010 provider. See downthread for the latest version. |

Ivan, many thanks for the hyperlink, however I currently get a HTTP 404 error when I click on it? |

Hi Lee, Give it another go - we had to enable that mime type on the server end :) Sorry for the inconvenience.

Brilliant, after changing the downloaded file's extension back to *.vsix it installed perfectly. I was subsequently able to create a database connection in VS2010 Server Explorer using "Mindscape Provider for PostgreSQL" and drag tables from it onto LightSpeed's model designer surface. Awesome work, many thanks for your timely and excellent service. |

Any chance you could also create and make available a 32-bit version of this provider? Many thanks Leigh |

Hello Leigh, Despite the thread title the PostgreSQL provider for VS2010 should work on both 32- and 64-bit machines -- the original poster's problem was down to VS2008 vs. VS2010 rather than 32- vs. 64-bit. Give it a whirl and you should be golden. |

We've been alerted to a potential issue with the previous build of the PostgreSQL provider on machines that have only ever had VS2010 installed. Here's an updated build that should address this problem. |
