I created vb.net project to access a MySQL database. More specifically, it reads a SQL Server database using LINQ2SQL and stores data on the MySQL database using Lightspeed. It compiles and runs perfectly. But when I add a Deployment project to the solution, I cannot get the Deployment to build. I included the output from the application project in the Application Folder of the Deployment. It automatically brought in: Mindscape.LightSpeed.dll Assembly But when I try to build the solution, I get the following errors: Unable to find dependency 'AWSSDK' (Signature='CD2D24CD2BACE800' Version='1.0.7.0') of assembly 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.dll'

What kind of deployment project are you using -- Setup Project, Web Setup Project or Setup Wizard? |

I am using a Setup Project. .NET Framework 3.5, Visual Studio 2008. |

Correction to something I said in the original post. It was late. In the Dependency list on the Deployment project (right-click the Mindscape.LightSpeed.dll assembly and select Dependencies) all of the flagged items are listed as required dependencies. But they also have the warning tag indicating they are not found. So the messages are consistent. Also, the messages are all warnings, but the build fails.

Here's what I did and it seems to be working for me: * Referenced the Mindscape DLL in my application project. * Added a Setup Project and added my application project primary output to the Application Folder. This added all the various dependencies (AWSSDK.dll etc.) to the Application Folder and I got the "unable to find dependency" warning/error. * Went into Solution Explorer, opened the Detected Dependencies folder. * Selected all the DLLs except for Mindscape.LightSpeed.dll and MySql.Data.dll. * Right-clicked the multi-selected DLLs and chose Exclude. * Rebuilt the Setup Project. I now get warnings but the setup project builds successfully and the MSI installs all the non-excluded files. Hope this helps -- let us know if this doesn't work for you. |

Thank you. I do get warnings, but it does build now.
VS will throw a "build failed" message in the status bar at the end of build, but it's lieing. It is actually building both the app and the setup & msi. |
