I use DevXpress XtraReports and I would like to use the LightSpeed model as the datasource. Is it advisable? I note that using a typed dataset seems to be the most natural way to binding to XtraReports. Using an object (the LightSpeed model) as the datasource seems to present some problems. For example, you need to navigate more in order to get the properties you want to bind to a label. I can't see where to write the underlying query and there's no result in the preview. I don't know if this is the proper forum to ask, but I wonder. Is this advisable or is it better to go back to the dataset model to represent data? If it is not a bad idea, what would be the best way to bind the LightSpeed model to the report? Are the recommendations useful to other report providers (Crystal, Visual Studio, etc).? What a curious man I am, isn't it? Regards. |

Unfortunately we have no experience with XtraReports so I'm afraid we can't really advise on this. However, most reporting tools have *some* way of running against an object model, so I don't *think* you should need to fall back to data sets -- but I don't know what the required incantations would be. Not sure if we have any other XtraReports users who could help you...? |
