I am using the 7/21/12 nightly build and MySQL 5.5.25a on Windows7 MySqlException: BLOB/TEXT column 'Name' can't have a default value I've simplified the model and consequent migration to this, which causes the error to happen:
and:
This is the result of simply adding a new entity to a brand new LS model, adding a single field and changing no settings or properties. Do I have to go through all of my entities and make all string fields nullable? I sure hope not. |

It seems this is a flaw in MySQL for Windows only, and not necessarily a problem with LightSpeed, though I wonder if a workaround can be done in LS. The solution is to turn off strict mode in MySQL. Check this Stackoverflow thread for details: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3466872/why-cant-a-text-column-have-a-default-value-in-mysql This, of course, means altering the default behavior of mysql on Windows and could potentially lead to some abnormalities when deploying to production if you do so with an OS other than Windows. |
