Hi Nathan, LightSpeed uses the fantastic Lucene library as its default search engine. Lucene is a sophisticated piece of software so it's not a case of a simple one line answer on how the ranks are generated. You would likely have better luck reading up on Lucene itself to find out how it works internally (a word of warning: it can get complicated!).
