Hi There, Can I have an estimate when you'd support CompiledQuery? My database query is running pretty slow as I'm dealing with a million and above records. Is there a current equivalent for CompiledQuery or work around I can use?
Thank you Sally |

Hi Sally, Can you elaborate on what you mean by "compiled query"? If you are thinking of a LINQ query then could you give some more detail on your scenario? Generally the cost of parsing the expression tree down to the LightSpeed query object which is used for execution is cheap compared to the cost of execution. In terms of any particular query running slow, can you provide some context around the query which is performing slowly? It may be a case for where something like a stored procedure, with more specifically crafted SQL might be of use.

Queries running across millions of records are going to be slow at the DB end, not the query generation end. Compiled queries can help out tremendously when you are dealing with queries that get executed regularly but the database execution is very quick. That is where we have had most of our performance problems with LINQ (Entity Framework is terrible in this area). |
