Hi - I took a hiatus from MVC for a few days to learn a bit about CSS, HTML and jQuery. When I came back and opened my project, the model files seem to have corrupted, as follows: <entity name="NiceName" identityType="Int32" cacheExpiry="0" tableName="NiceNames" identityColumnName="NiceNameID"> |

BTW, this extra text was in 2 places in the model file. Here's the second occurrence: <entity name="Attribute" identityType="Int32" cacheExpiry="0" tableName="Attributes" identityColumnName="AttributeID"> |

This is your version control system's way of indicating conflicts. Basically it looks like something has made changes to your local copy of the model while something else has made changes to the repository copy. Run a conflict resolution tool, or just do a revert if you don't think you have any local edits worth saving. If you don't think it was you that made the changes, it could be a spurious conflict caused by the changeover from CVS to Mercurial. |

That's what I was afraid of. I'm sure Mercurial is a fine version control tool, but it is way different from anything I am used to and there are too many ways to mess things up for my taste... It looks like I can revert to where I was prior to last week, and I haven't done much with this code since, so that's what I'll do. (Here's where I would interject various expletives if I were so inclined...)

OK, I got Mercurial happy again, but now the designer doesn't seem to want to work. When I double-click on the .lsmodel file, or right-click and select "View Designer", I get the XML code but no pretty pictures. What do I need to be looking for to make it work again? I want my boxes and arrows back! (OK, now I feel better...) Thanks, Dave |
