Hi - I just installed the latest software and I'm just trying to create a one table SimpleDb model but I keep getting the following exception: Failed to generate code for model. Exception message: Unable to cast object of type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LicensingService' to type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.ILicensingService'. Exception details: System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LicensingService' to type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.ILicensingService'. at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.VsxToolContext.get_MaxTypes() at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LightSpeedFileGenerator.GenerateCode(String inputFileContents) There are no threads on your site about this exception in support or on the net. |

That sounds very odd. Did you have a previous version of LightSpeed installed prior to installing this current version? Could you let me know what the version numbers are for:

Hi Jeremy - Thanks for the quick reply. I have added the specified dll to the GAC (if it wasn't already there). The version for the file is 1.0.0.0. If this is wrong let me know and I'll try to uninstall and reinstall again. Update 1: Quick update: I uninstalled everything, deleted all Mindscape dlls from the GAC, deleted the Mindscape folder from program files (after the uninstall). I then reinstalled everything and I'm still getting the same error. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Update 2: Other Info: I have VS 2010 Ultimate and VS 2012 RC installed. Update 3: Seems like things work fine in VS 2012 and I don't get the error there. Unfortunate since I was working with an older projevt in VS 2010 and wasted a lot of time today on this. Hopefully this hint will help you fix for other people with similar configurations. Thanks! Michael |

Hmm that is still very odd, particular given it works in VS2012 but not VS2010. Do you have any other extensions installed in VS2010 (that you dont have running in VS2012)?

Maybe you installed the express version? I had the same problem and couldn't find where to put in the license key either. After login Mindscape site and downloaded the professional version things got going smoothly now. :-) |
