With sass command-line I can watch a SASS directory for changes, and then compile to a CSS directory:
This allows me to keep my SCSS in one directory and my CSS in another - rather than having the SCSS and CSS files side-by-side in the same directory. This is neater for version control and hosting because I can just exclude the whole CSS directory from version control, and make the whole SCSS directory hidden from the front-end. Is there any way to achieve this with Web Workbench? |

Yes - if you open up the Web Workbench Settings for your project (select the project and use the right click context menu, or the Mindscape menu) you can set the Output Folder for your SCSS file and specify where the .css and/or .min.css will be generated. You will need to apply this on a per file basis - We are definitely aware that bulk controls would be highly desirable for this dialog and we are planning to address this in a future update :)

Ah wonderful! I'll try this out at work tomorrow. Also, is it possible to disable SASS compilation entirely, and just use Web Workbench for the syntax highlighting? Say if I wanted to compile SASS with a different tool like SASS command-line or Compass? |

Yes - you can turn off compilation under the global Web Workbench options (Tools/Options/Web Workbench) As an aside if you are using Compass we have the option of running the Compass compiler either via our bundled Ruby install or a nominated Ruby install on your local machine so you might want to have a look at that if you still want to have compilation integrated. See http://www.mindscapehq.com/blog/index.php/2012/10/04/compass-for-visual-studio-with-web-workbench/ for some details on this :)

Great. That's almost everything I could want (I'll still be looking forward to a global setting for compilation to a directory). Thanks for your help. |
