Licensing

Licensing can be complicated - long documents written by lawyers can make it difficult to understand what the licensing terms are. We have created this page to help understand, in non-legal terms, how the NHibernate Designer is licensed. You should still check the end user license agreement and if you have any questions then please don't hesitate to contact us.

Licensing is per developer

This is similar to the pricing model used by many component vendors. If you have, for example, three developers working on a solution then you would need to acquire a license for each developer.

Do I need to purchase a license for my build server?

No! The designer is only required for developers. The designer generates standard C# or VB files which is all that gets built at compile time (so you would commit them into your source control). The NHibernate Designer does not need to be installed on your build server.

Do I need to buy all my licenses up front?

No, you can purchase additional licenses as you add people to your team however we offer bulk purchasing discounts for purchases of 3 licenses or more which may make it advantageous to purchase up front.

Can I download the license?

The latest version of the NHibernate Designer license is included in every version of the NHibernate Designer. Simply download the trial edition and install it to see the license at the start of the installation process.
