Hi, I like the Extension Manager :-) One reason is that it keeps me informed when new updates are available. I saw the LightSpeed Extension there - great. Does the update button also update my purchased version or is it only for the trails? Regards, |

I believe the Update button will always download the edition that's publicly available through the Visual Studio Code Gallery. So yes, for LightSpeed, that means the trial version. For some of our other products we're moving towards an activation-based approach, where there's only one edition, and the "purchased" functionality is enabled by a licence key rather than by downloading a different MSI or VSIX. For those products, purchased software remains "purchased" after the update. Because LightSpeed has a runtime component as well as a design-time component, I don't know whether we'll be able to move towards that model for LightSpeed, so for the time being, you must continue to download Professional edition from the Mindscape store rather than through Extension Manager. |

We like it very much also! :) It will update the version which is in the VS Gallery. Unfortunately in LightSpeed's case this is indeed only the trial version, so you still need to download the nightlies by the store. For some of our other products such as the SimpleDB management tools we have been able to produce a unified installer which is managed by licensing so the update covers both. We are still looking into this for LightSpeed but there are a few limitations in what we can do with VSIX based installs which makes this a lot tricker for LightSpeed :)
